Alternative Energy Racing 2013 Report Read a report from Alternative Energy Racing 2013 with the class leaderboards and photos on the 2013 Report page. Welcome to Alternative Energy Racing The Alternative Energy Racing event is the flagship of Santa Pod Raceway’s drive into supporting Alternative Energy Fuels and Racing. Motorsport and environmental consciousness are often thought to be impossible partners. But using sustainable energy instead of fossil fuels is no barrier to dragstrip performance as Alternative Energy Racing has set out to prove. Born 4 years ago the event is now moving into its fifth year and it’s firmly cemented on the calendar. AE Racing showcases what can be done RIGHT NOW in the world of alternative fuel and zero emissions vehicles. We will have support from industry experts, manufactures, independent bodies as well as our normal attendees from the alternative energy racing fraternity. Continued supporters for 2012 are the Battery Vehicle Society, who will be at the event with vehicle entries, displays and expert advice. Founded in 1973, the BVS is Britain’s foremost and longest-running Electric Vehicle (EV) society. Its members are spread throughout the UK and beyond; and their electric vehicle interests encompass production electric and hybrid vehicles, one-off builds and fossil-fuel to electric conversions.
Track entries are open to manufactures, individuals, universities, colleges and clubs, and all types of vehicles are welcome, provided they are powered by energy that can be produced in a sustainable manner. That could include biodiesel, bioethanol, biogas, electric, hydrogen, compressed gas, and even synthesised fuels. There is FREE ENTRY and track time for all suitable entries and exhibitors, just visit the Contact Us page to find out how to take part. Racing takes the form of Drag Racing: whoever can clock the quickest time over a quarter mile from a standing start is declared the winner. There will be two titles contested, that of Fastest Zero Emission Vehicles and Fastest Alternative Fuel Vehicle. This year all vehicles taking part must be capable of 50mph. Racing takes place in sessions on Monday 6th May 2013.
